Of Thick and Thin Brush Strokes

The first time I saw words and art combined, my mind went haywire, my heart pumped faster. I never thought those two can be seen together in a way that it would be appealing to all. I roamed my eyes on that piece of work. I looked at my hand, and I just imagined myself creating something like that. It was impossible, yes, but I tried to venture in the field of calligraphy.

Calligraphy is defined as some fancy penmanship, as Merriam states. But I think the another definition of it, which is the art of writing beautifully, is what clearly differentiates calligraphy. It isn’t just something writing words in a fun way but in art form.

As I stumbled upon (http://www.calligraphy-skills.com/what-is-calligraphy.html) What is calligraphy? I, too, was enlightened on what I was doing the whole time. Every stroke, every tip, every part of the work that I have done was art—an expression of beauty and emotions through words and design. Every bit of it was to highlight everything and then it stood as one.

Parts of the world has its own calligraphy. Before, it was a way to write the sacred texts but as time progressed, doodles, symbols, drawings and other art forms are now injected. It may be different from words and scribbles, but it will stand as one, complementing each other.

Others may say that calligraphy is just some lettering but it is more than that. To understand more, watch this video:

I have been practicing modern calligraphy in months but I still have a lot more to learn. Art needs practice, time and effort. Sure art is subjective and it can be just anything, but I believe that art is a science of both perfection and imperfection. Perfection which means practicing until it looks beautiful for the society and imperfection which means practicing until it looks striking for you.

Dip the brush on the desired ink. Scribble the letters and words on the desired paper. Then bleed your heart out until it fills the entire page and reaches to everyone’s eyes. Let your art be the source of admiration and inspiration.
